Mostly its a guild problem imho. Not denying the All-channel insulting between teams I have of course seen, which itself is really quite sad, but that isnt within the guild. You might get upset from time to time, you might argue with another guild member, but you dont go swearing at a guild member on vent. That person should have been kicked. Doesnt matter who they are. Possible then your friend may not have quit had it been handled within the guild (though I cant make assumptions). I likely wouldnt stay with that guild myself had that happened. Having gotten to r10 I am sure as a monk she experienced some grief before. Having a little thicker skin is one thing, but some things go over the line. She likely enjoyed that group and did not wish to start over in another guild, so quit instead. When my old guild disbanded I quit for quite some time, for good I thought, so its really understandable to me, though sorry to hear the story.
This is why I dont PvP. I really dont need that from a game. Real life has enough of that.

People can (and always will) be stuck-up ignorant morons. Especially people who blame the monk for their own inadequacies.

first off, you play with the PvP kiddies and you're going to run into assholes - that's just all there is to it. No ifs or buts.
Secondly, if your skin isn't thick enough to handle some idiot kids on a Vent channel, you probably shouldn't be on the internet at all... let alone playing a game like this. I hate to say it but it's really true.
I'm really trying to care here... but this whole thing just reeks of OMG*DRAMA*, but whatever.

I don't like the attitude. PvP players take it way too seriously, and their general attitude towards the PvEers is horrible. The anonymity of the net (even on vent in some cases) can lead to that kinda stuff. Never in my life I'd go nuts at someone like this over vent via a single loss. I've overcome losses in PvE as well and I've never blown up at anyone like this... seen stuff close, but y'know. Never at a point that made me want to quit this game.

The internet is one thing, but to go off on someone like that on vent is another. Say your peace if you must on guild channel and then go steam about it a bit and come back and try to make it better, but dont go attacking someone on vent verbally imho, its just too direct. The offending person would have been kicked so fast had I been the guild leader their head would still be spinning.
I agree with you in general though, there's no escaping it completely. You're definitely right.

On the internet, idiocy and inhumanity run rampant. It's expected that somewhere down the line, someone is going to insult you [a lot] either for no reason, or a small mistake. Ever been to 4chan? [<The a-hole of the internet] It shows the full extent of what anonymity plus an audience can equal.

No excuse for it within a guild, but otherwise its basically true, though I wouldnt make it out to be quite that black and white. There's a good number of people who are neither a wolf nor a sheep. Telling yourself you will be the worst sort of individual simply so you will not be taken advantage of doesnt help anything.

I have witnessed this crappy behaviour -_-
I decided i wanted to get into HA, because i seen the observation videos and it looked challenging and fun! i thought a couple of guildies and I could go check it out and learn....We went there...it took us ages to get a team because we had no ranks already so they called us noobs -_- We had one person with about rank 6 i think, he was like ok do these builds it helps so we followed (to learn an all that) when we got in there we got passed the first round lol then got half wiped in the second....he sorta just said you guys are idiots and left.
I know we arent idiots, but we are new. No patience anymore :-(
I have been there a few times by myself trying to find a team, but alas i dont get anywhere because i dont have a rank. I find it funny how people auto assume that you are a crap players because you dont have a rank yet.
I mean come on think......i cant map into HA then *ping* rank 10. -_-

Lol that is a pve and somethims ra only occurance. That doesn't happen in higher level pvp. But people who are terrible blaming losses on other in ha happens all the time. I can't believe a r10 player hasn't noticed that until now?

It's not a good team unless there is some bitching going on. It keeps people doing their jobs, especially in a PuG setting like HA.
Get used to it. If you're playing your role well, you won't get complaints. If you still do, then most likely it's the one complaining who is horrible and is trying to scapegoat, at which point you need to suck it up, tell them to piss off and stop being bad, and/or rage.
If you take anything said on the Internet seriously then you don't have much place calling other people 'immature'. There are limits, of course, and when they're crossed you leave the group and make a mental note that whatever person you ran into isn't worth grouping with again.

Common manners says that you should have respect for those on the Internet as if people are face-to-face. That old equation of Internet + Anonymity allows a whole new e-personality to come through which has a lot less inhibitions because there are fewer consequences.
If I call you names and curse to your face, you can then proceed to punch my nose - and rightly so. Across the Internet any little geek can be a big tough-guy and say what he wants whilst enjoying the safety and security of wires and pixels.

Wherever there'll be people, there will be idiots and there will be feelings (broken). A game, IMHO, isn't an excuse to bad behavior. You're with people, deal accordingly. If you don't wanna deal with people, just play with heroes/henchies.
As I've witnessed beforehand (guildie raging at everyone) people have their bad day, but still, you're in a group. Act like you should and there won't be any problems; can be said on both sides. Sometimes you gotta let stuff roll on your back and stop taking stuff too seriously, sometimes it's YOU who have to watch your own acts.
